Recycling
All our 100% rubber products are recyclable, some are re-ground and mixed back into the rubber compound for new product generation, the rest are ground up along with other recyclable materials to make various products such as childrens playground safety flooring & equipment.
Some of our products such as Kleen-Wave and Eco-Scrape are actually made from 100% recyclable materials.
In our offices all our waste paper & cardboard is bailed for recycling and used ink cartridges are returned to the manufacturers for refilling.
In our factory; carboard carpet tubes, polythene wrapping, plastic yarn cones, product off cuts and other waste materials that where once sent to landfill are now all hand sorted, bailed and palleted for recycling.
Of course we do produce some waste products that cannot be recycled, for these we are looking into controlled ways to incinerate them to produce electrical energy thus avoiding the landfill option completely.
In the last 12 Months our despatch team have managed to reduce packaging material consumption by up to 30%, using less materials and re-using existing packaging materials wherever possible, this benefits both our financial margins and the environment.
Carbon Footprint Reductions
We regularly review our intercompany haulage not only to reduce our own costs, but also to reduce the carbon impact on the environment through unnecessary transportation and fuel consumption. One way of achieving this is to manufacture all components of a single product under one roof, or optimising space efficiency with our cargo so we reduce the amount of empty space that is being hauled.
Since 2006 we have successfuly reduced our inter-company transport carbon footprint by up to 50% whilst still maintaining good business growth and product output.
Resources
Kleen-Tex strives to use as many sustainable resources as possible in the construction of our products; materials such as natural Cotton or Coir fibres created from the waste materials generated through coconut harvesting.
