New World Record Attempt by Chris Hopkinson

Chris “Hoppo” Hopkinson Presents 12hr Cycling World Record Attempt

Sponsored by Kleen-Tex

Chris will be attempting a WUCA (World UltraCycling Association) Age Group World Record Attempt, the first of its kind to happen on an outdoor track in Guernsey, taking place at The Karting Track, St Peter Port on Monday 12th November. Chris is hoping to break 8 long distance cycling records and raise funds for the Friends of Guernsey Music Centre (charity number 198) to help with their trip to Canada this summer.

Chris is proud to be bring UltraCycling to Guernsey for the first time. The records being attempted are 1hr, 100km, 100 mile, 200km, 6hr, 300km, 200 miles, and 12hr. In July 2019 the Guernsey Music Centre are taking 100 students to Ontario, Canada to gain music knowledge and experience and learn new skills. Chris is trying to get local businesses to support this.

Chris would like to thank Marc Isabelle, director at ForeSite surveying services, Karting Guernsey and Keith Mansell from Belgrave Wanderers Football Club (who own the karting track) who have already assisted in getting this record attempt off the ground. Chris is looking for financial donations, £200 for Chris to cover expenses and any donations for the Friends of Guernsey Music Centre to help give the children this amazing experience.

If anyone would like to come down and support the event and give some motivation to Chris as he is going round and round the track we would love to see people there on the day. Chris will be at the track on the 12/11/18 between 7.30 am to 7.30 pm.

Quote from Chris. “I love UltraCycling and have achieved many things on a bicycle, this is a fantastic opportunity for me to give something back and use my cycling for a something positive. I came to Guernsey in August as a peripatetic music teacher and I love how amazing the Music Centre is and the opportunities it gives to young musicians, I’m glad to be able to support it and give something back to the community.

Thank you for your time, if you would like any further information please get in
